Dr. Michael Chen, D.O.

Dr. Michael Chen was born in Provo, Utah. He is the 5th of 8 children. Dr. Chen attended Brigham Young University and received a degree in Molecular Biology. Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, he conducted research in genetics, studying genetic links to coronary artery disease as well as breast and ovarian cancer, leading to the discovery and testing of the CHD-1, BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 genes.

Dr. Chen attended medical school at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California and completed a transitional internship in Portland, Oregon. He then went on to complete his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. During residency he conducted research in several areas relating to spine disorders, sports medicine, and pain management. He also became proficient in nerve conduction studies and electromyography, which can diagnose neuropathies and help localize specific level of a radiculopathy. It was during residency, where he developed a keen interest in pain management. Dr. Chen then completed a one year interventional spine and pain fellowship training through the Utah Center for Pain Management and Research in Orem, Utah.

Dr. Chen is excited to be a part of the Centennial Pain Relief Network, where he can use his diverse training in sports medicine and pain management to diagnose and provide pain relief for his patients through EMG/NCS, interventional procedures and focused therapeutic programs.
