Marcia J Howton M.D.

 

Marcia Howton, M.D. joins us from Reno, NV, where she has been practicing anesthesia and chronic pain management since 1995.

A native Nevadan, and a graduate of University of Florida, Dr Howton is ABA Board Certified in Anesthesiology, and subspecialty certified in chronic pain management. Progressive in her practice style and enjoying both teaching and learning, she has received additional training in Mindful Based Stress Reduction through the University of Massachusetts Mindfulness in Medicine Program. She serves on the Education Board for the American Academy of Pain Management, and is voluntary clinical faculty for the University of Nevada, Reno, School of Medicine, Departments of Psychiatry and Family Practice, and the University of California Davis, Division of Pain Management, Department of Anesthesia. She enjoys lecturing locally and nationally on various aspects of integrative pain management.

Married for 32 years, she and her husband, a former Company Officer of the Hazardous Materials Team with the City of Gainesville Fire Department, and currently teaching middle school shop in Reno, have finished raising their 2 children, who are now both in college.

She loves outdoor activities like hiking, camping, bike riding, swimming, horseback riding, and, most of all, being with kids of all ages. She grew up visiting her grandma Dixie and Aunts here in Las Vegas where her mother grew up in Boulder City, and was a Rhythmette from 1952-1954. She fondly remembers the El Rancho Casino, the Riverside being on the edge of town, and 25 cent cranberry juice to watch a show. She is excited to be returning to Las Vegas to join Dr. Lanzkowsky in offering over the top compassionate, competent, quality anesthesia and chronic pain management to clients and patients in the Las Vegas area.
